The Boys are Home!

The boys are back in town! So proud of my BIGS. They are back home for Christmas and I see so much maturity in them. I will say the anticipation of them coming home has gotten me through quite a few busy days and also overwhelming days but I am just so overjoyed to have them home.
I have the biggest smile on my face each day I come home and see them sitting in the living room and my kitchen clean. They have even been preparing lunches for my littles at night. They look happy and healthy and mature.
Both have lost about 20 pounds but honestly, it's 18-20lbs of fast food garbage that neither needed anyway. Their Christmas lists are short and their needs are few. So proud of them. I wonder if I would feel the same if I was coming home each day to see them sitting in my living room if they were not home on college break...lol.
Crazy things I was worried one was putting to much effort into PS3 and not enough into books and he didn't even bring it home for break. The other, has been in no rush to hit the streets. Both boys have been spending a bit of time each night with the littles. A mother could not be more happy, or feeling more blessed!

Playoffs....Round 2

We made it through Round 1...when I said MADE it...I mean literally. We were down 20-17 when the heavens opened up...yeap! Power Outage. The lights went out ALL OVER STOCKTON! The game resumed the next day and we came crashing back to a 34-20 win to lead us into Round 2. The boys will need to come much stronger for the next round and it's expected to rain.  Maxxpreps spoke to twin and few others shortly after the game:

Feliz cumpleaƱos mi amor - Happy Birthday

I sat down this morning and tried to think of something moving to write so that a reader could truly understand my journey with the twins. How much they have saved my life and how much I adore them. The are no real words to describe how I truly feel. Until today I didn't think 16 was ever coming...meaning, I felt they would be my babies forever.

That's probably why I finally gave into the promise to allow Twin A to get his ears pierced when he was 16. I made the deal at 12. He never forgot. I did. He started reminding me last Wednesday. CRAP! Thank God, I had enough sence to tell him he will never be allowed to get a tattoo as long as he lives in my home.

In all seriousness though, I looked back at some letters I wrote when they were still in my womb and how much I loved them before they even arrived. It's still tickles me to think of myself breaking down crying on the ultrasound table when they told me it was twins. I couldn't imagine how in the world I would ever complete this huge assignment the Lord had chosen for me. Instead I cursed God and asked him why he had done this to me. God is good and he only gave me one busy baby at a time. When one cried the other smiled, when one screamed the other slept, when one swing stopped rocking back and forth the other kept going. When one bottle was empty the other was full. Twin A walked a month before Twin B and Twin B talked 2 months before Twin A uttered a word. It has been like that their entire lives.

How far I've come in raising these two and no matter how many mistakes I make they continue to love me regardless. Our daily talks, or laying on the bed in silence or my loud mouth in the stands at their games make me so happy.

This year I promised myself I would baby them less and allow them to grow up a little and not shelter them so much but it's been a internal fight sometimes. When I see Twin B not working his hardest on the field or court, even though I know he is one of the most talented out there, I no longer want to beat up the coach because he is an "idiot" and doesn't know true talent. I look to my son and say "work harder, no one is going to give you anything you have to take it". I also make sure to reward him when his grades continue to rise because I want him to know that hard work pays off and an athletic scholarship is not the only way to college.

I'm still working on not coddling Twin A so much. He needs his hand held just a bit longer academically but with God's help, my continued push and some more maturity I'm sure he will be as successful in the classroom as he is on the field.

I've often said if you make them into one they are SUPERHUMAN but they are two and each have their own issues, traits, and qualities. No matter the situation they realize if that I love them so much and they love me. Tonight they have planned a dinner...including dates and a movie with friends for their 16th birthday. I guess I should enjoy the chauffering that I'll be doing tonight as next year they'll probably ask if they can use the car.

Twins - Mommy loves you more than you will ever know. Happy 16th. Love Mom.

M.I.A

(Wondertwin power...ACTIVATE) (#18 Twin B, #5 Twin A)

Ripping any running. Such is life lately. Haven't had much time to blog...but I miss all of my readers even if somedays the only one reading is me.

It's 96 degrees outside right now and just sticking nasty hot. I don't want winter just yet but I'd love for it to be a little cooler, maybe just 10 degrees color.

School is crazy right now between all these tests and homework and projects. Work life, not to mention football has been going, going and going. Since it's too hot to be in the writing mood I thought I'd share some pictures of the last few weeks. Enjoy. MUUUUAAAAHHHHH!!!!

(My little daffodil picker got a tackle this week, next year he'll be in beast-mode)

Just some ramblings

It's Friday and I"m off to the wind! On my way to the gym. No work in an office today but LOTS TO DO! Today is the big day! I've been waiting to take these braids down forever. I even had the nerve to go get the front and back done so I could keep them longer, or should I say, keep from having to take them down longer...and now I am official that woman that other black woman talk about. "ooohhh look at them raggedy braids, girl they raising up off her poor head...she need to take them down!" Yes, the growth is so long in the middle it's working my scalp, my ponytail clip and my nails! Just nasty. I figure it'll talk about 4 hours to take it down, then I'm off to Friday night FOOTBALL! My boys don't play tonight because the team they are playing doesn't have stadium lights so we play Saturday instead but what's a Friday night without football. So we are off to see another local team. Our little Will is making is Varsity debut!

In other news, we are halfway through the quarter. My twin A is still struggling just a bit but we are working to get him into the light. He's a great kid and hard worker so although he's fighting right now he will be victorious in the classroom as well as the field. I can't go without giving props to my little CJ who is kicking butt in the classroom and his reading his coming along BEAUTIFULLY! His math facts are great too thanks to Around the World! CAYDEN CAYDEN CAYDEN What can I say. He has finally started Preschool! Little King ain't the king no more! He's been at school 3 days and been on timeout twice! He's excited about school and seems to be growing up already. Finally, my little twin B continues to amaze me with his willingness to want to be the best in everything. He is determined this year to
maintain is 4.0 status and so far he is achieving. I am so proud of him.

For now, that's about it! All things are well...love and hugs. It's the weekend!

My Other Man...

The twins and I went to the gym yesterday. They decided to get in a few rounds of basketball while I got my workout on. Now, one twin...That would be Twin B, he'll be a great boyfriend to some little chickenhead one day. He believes that a woman has her own mind. He's too busy worry about the many goals he has to accomplish. I often times have to remind him to "snap out of it" and pay attention to his surroundings. By his surroundings I mean his little brothers, his mother, turning the lights off in the house and not allowing the door to shut on the family coming into the store behind us. He's coming along. I've noticed lately he makes sure all the doors are locked before we leave the house. He gets behind the basket at the grocery store without being asked and he comes to check on me and see if I need anything before he leaves to school on days I don't drive. This is the same twin who cleans the kitchen every night and cooks for the boys when I'm not home. I say he'll be a good boyfriend because all you really have to do is tell him what he needs to fix and he does it. "come on baby, you know you gotta help around here a little more". Twin A on the other hand, he's "My other Man". By my other man I mean, he truly believes that if his father is not around he is in charge of my well being. He has made it his mission since he was very small boy. Before I allowed him to pump gas he would get out of the car and stand guard while I pumped. He scrutinizes my clothing before I leave out of the house (although I ignore him and keep it moving), and he often even holds my hand in the store. Fast forward to today at the gym. The gym I go to EVERYDAY and know most of the faces there. The gym is surrounded by mirrors so as I'm working out I continue to catch little glimpses of him sticking his head out of the basketball court to see if I'm okay. One time he walked all the way over to say "you okay?" following some annoying guy hanging around the machine waiting for me to get done. When I finally disappeared into the sauna, 10 minutes later he was there sticking his head in, "hey mom, you ready to go?".

It's not to an extreme at all the way I've seen some sons' become their mother's man and feel the need to take on every battle as if they were the MAN of the house. He is simply checking on his mother making sure that she is okay. I love that! When it gets to much I'll "check" him for sure.
